Performance Capture - Created for Avatar
Technological process used to translate an actors performance into a digital character as seen in films like lord of the rings, King Kong, planet of the apes, avatar, and more. Each facial expression, body movement and vocalization is recorded via specialized cameras and used to create a CG character. Performance is at the center of the process.

Film used performance capture, 'Mowgli' was the only actor on set. Using a rig called SimulCam, the 3d characters could be created real time next to the Mowgli actor. The finished video would then go to post-production who would do the bulk of Visual Effects and fine tuning.
